Workshop on

"Shallow Parsing in South Asian Languages"

A contest will be an important part of the workshop. In the contest, training data will be provided to the contestants. The data will consist of annotated text. The contestants will have to train their systems on the data. The contest will be in two rounds and in each round test data will be released. Based on the first round, the contestants will be required to submit a paper based on their algorithm. They will be reviewed for novelty of approach as well as quality of results and the final contest will be held a few weeks before the workshop date. Authors of selected papers will be invited to present their techniques at the workshop.

  • June 30, 2006 :- Announcement of the contest
  • August 1, 2006 :- Registration for the workshop closes
  • September 7, 2006 :- Release of the initial round of data (training and testing)
  • October 9, 2006 :- 1st round of the contest
  • October 11, 2006 :- Paper submissions by contest participants
  • October 31, 2006 :- Workshop paper acceptance notice
  • November 5, 2006 :- 2nd and Final round of the contest
  • November 7, 2006 :- Announcement of the results on test data
  • November 10, 2006 :- Final submission of the revised papers
  • November 15, 2006 :- Deadline for complete workshop notes submission to the chair
